My first post offering advice to all future brides and the simplest place to start…it’s your wedding, have it your way! You have just got engaged and while you are trying to let it sink in, there is no doubt your nearest and dearest will already be making you feel overwhelmed with wedding do’s and don’ts. It is so easy to get caught up trying to make notes of your guests likes and dislikes but at the end of the day are they your likes or dislikes? This is your special day and whilst you want to accommodate your guests as much as possible you also want to ensure that it does not result in compromising your dream day.
The lucky ones who have been invited to share your special day are there to support you and you’re soon to be husband! Whether they agree with your decisions or not; the only ones who will walk away with regrets because they ‘didn’t choose the more secluded ceremony spot at it was a 10 minute walk into the woods’ or ‘didn’t choose that venue because there was not enough accommodation on site’ will be the two of you!
Remember….everyone has different tastes, styles, traditions and values but the beauty of your wedding day is it is only the tastes, styles, traditions and values that you hold close that need to be treasured.
3 Things to ask yourself when making decisions!
1. Is this what we want or would we prefer something else?
- Any doubts and you know you are going off track!
2. Will the majority of people be happy with this choice?
- You will never please everyone!
3. Am I just agreeing because everyone is supporting this choice? (One for when the bridesmaids are in tow)
- Just because your best friends love peonies doesn’t mean you have to love them too!
